Do you need a new watch strap, but are unsure how to change from the old one to a new one?
Then you'll find the answer here! In this article, we'll show you how easy it is to change your watch strap – and what you need to get started.
Whether you have purchased a new belt from Straps.no, or considering upgrading your style, this is the guide you need.
This is what you need to change your watch strap
-
Springbar tool – to compress the spring bars and loosen the strap
-
An extra pair of spring bars – in the correct mm size (e.g. 20mm, 22mm)
-
New watch strap – preferably one you have chosen to suit your style or occasion
How to change a watch strap – step by step:
Step 1: Remove the old belt
Place the watch on a soft surface to avoid scratches. Use the pointed end of the spring bar tool to press down on the spring bar (the small metal pin that holds the band in place). You should feel it loosen – then you can carefully pry the band out. Repeat on both sides.
Tip: Be patient – it may take some practice to get the hang of the spring bar the first time.
Step 2: Prepare the new belt
Check that the spring bars fit both in the strap and between the lugs of the watch case. If your old spring bars are worn, use new ones to ensure a good fit.
Step 3: Attach the new strap
Slide the spring bar into the strap and place one end in the hole in the horn. Use the tool to compress the other side and guide the strap into place. When the spring bar clicks into place, the strap is securely in place. Repeat on the opposite side.
